A Must Reference
|

| The New Encyclopedia is a must have reference. It really is not expensive. some of it overlaps the 1st Edition and some present. Both books together begin to reach the long out of date Horticulture. This book is practical and with suggestions for different plant zones across the climate while at the same time taking the time to remind the reader about micro-climates eg under Shade or acidity of soil. I've used it sufficiently that I do not have to go to the 1st edition very much. But the best reference. Matt Cohen Zen of Watering Your Garden |

Tea Sipping Women
|
| Review Date: December 29, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Canon Fan, Rural Hall, NC |
| This is an example of a book created by a committee. It's what you would expect from a bunch of afternoon tea sipping women who admire their gardens and can maybe remember the name(s) of their gardener(s), after "tea". About one page is devoted to "green" gardening. There are many references to contact your local extension service. Being located so close to DC and K street it's no wonder that this book would make any Monsanto peddler proud. American Horticultural Society - an embarrassment to anyone who actually grows plants, and don't mind getting their hands dirty. (Oh the AHS gardener said, "We have to get our hands dirty?"). |

It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it’s always possible to find something new.
